So today was the first day of the rest of my life. My Ikea life. That place is magical. I got a bed/couch/storage thing that looks amazing, a canvas obelisk that will be holding all my linens, and a napkin holder that holds the napkins with a metal ball suspended from a wire at the base. I LOVE IKEA.
In other not so interesting news, Dad and I went roaming and got a sandwich at this Polish deli at the market. Probably the best sandwich i've had in a long time. So good. They didnt really speak much english, but we asked if they had sandwiches. We were told to "grab bun from bin", and they just made us a sandwich. We had no say in what went into it, but it was soooooo good. And, it was right beside the tea store. A whole store. For tea. Nicole, it was your personal heaven. They will know me by name within a week. I promise.
I'm still feeling quite sick though, so theres not been much roaming, and what roaming there is, is not for very long. I do feel a smidgen better today though, so thats good. There was a crazy man screaming nonsense at the top of his lungs this morning outside my apt. though. So I feel if he can do that, I should be able to get through a little sore throat and cough. Hopefully soon, I'll be the one screaming very loudly. But not yet.
As the days go by, more and more of my friends from home are moving closer. Denis is in Montreal. Kris moves to Toronto soon. Myrt is in Toronto too! Bev Soifer ( BLAST FROM MY FIRST YEAR PAST) and I are meeting to have coffee later this week when I feel up to it. I'm so excited to see her! Its been three whole years. Whoa! I love getting the messages from people back home. Its comforting. I already miss the valley something wicked. As we were driving in to Ottawa a few days ago, about an hour outside town, there was some scenery that looked very Nova Scotian. Instant nostalgia. But, Ottawa has her own charms that I'll just have to find.
I've been reading Ally's Paris blog like a madman, and I have to say that although I feel my life is interesting, I cant even compete with Corsica, or Paris, or Renyac...I think its called Renyac. I'm going to have to start inventing things to make this more interesting. I saw a tiger roaming the streets today. All alone. It had a small child in its mouth, and was looking for a place to sit. Noone said a word. . . More interesting than Paris???
Anyway, All the best to those travelling to new homes! I miss you all very much.
Much love,
Jacob
and was looking for a place to sittt hahaha
